Time release formulas often include ingredients with a short life cycle. This means that direct release would make no sense because a large part of the product would not be absorbed. At Evivita we have developed a multilayer technique through which active ingredients are released in layers that can be absorbed over a period of time.
There are also techniques in capsules and softgels that can provide improved or sustained release of the active ingredients. Some examples of these are: Micro-encapsulation and the use of specific oil emulsions. These can transport the active agents through the gastrointestinal tract, giving delicate substances a greater chance of being absorbed. The use of phospholipids and dissolving agents can also increase absorption at the cellular level.
